Lymphatic Drainage Massage — 90 Minutes
Drain. Restore. Relax. Reset.
Our 90-minute Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a gentle, restorative treatment designed to support healthy lymphatic flow, encourage fluid movement, promote deep relaxation, and support your body's overall sense of well-being.
Unlike traditional massage that primarily focuses on muscles, lymphatic massage uses light, rhythmic, and intentional strokes that follow the natural pathways of the lymphatic system. Because lymph does not have a central pump like the heart, its movement is supported by breathing, muscle activity, and gentle external stimulation.
At Divine Body Works, your 90-minute session provides enough time for a comprehensive approach to the body while allowing the treatment to remain slow, gentle, and intentional.
More Than Drainage: Supporting Your Nervous System
One of the most valuable aspects of lymphatic massage is the opportunity to slow the body down.
The gentle, repetitive nature of manual lymphatic techniques can promote relaxation and may help shift the body away from a heightened stress response and toward a calmer parasympathetic, or "rest-and-digest," state. Many clients leave their session describing a sense of deep relaxation, decreased tension, improved body awareness, and an overall feeling of being lighter and more settled.
This makes lymphatic massage a wonderful wellness treatment even for clients who have not had surgery. It can be incorporated into a regular self-care routine for those seeking relaxation, support for healthy fluid movement, or simply an opportunity to give their body time to rest and reset.
Lymphatic massage may help support:
Healthy lymphatic and fluid movement
Reduction in the appearance and feeling of temporary puffiness and fluid retention
Deep relaxation and stress reduction
A calmer, more restorative state
Healthy circulation
Relief from feelings of heaviness or congestion
Overall wellness and body awareness
Post-Operative Lymphatic Support
Lymphatic massage can also play an important role during post-operative recovery when medically appropriate and cleared by your surgeon.
Our therapists use gentle, targeted techniques to support lymphatic drainage and help manage post-surgical swelling and fluid accumulation without placing unnecessary pressure on healing tissues. Your treatment is adjusted according to your procedure, stage of recovery, and your surgeon's instructions.
Because every surgery and recovery is different, medical clearance may be required before post-operative treatment, particularly during the early stages of healing or when complications are present.
When Lymphatic Massage May Not Be Appropriate
Your safety comes first. Lymphatic massage may need to be avoided, postponed, or performed only with medical clearance when certain health conditions are present. Please inform your therapist about your medical history, recent procedures, medications, and any changes in your health before treatment.
Contraindications and precautions may include:
Active infection, fever, or acute illness
Cellulitis or other active skin/tissue infection
Known or suspected blood clot (DVT), thrombosis, or pulmonary embolism
Unexplained sudden swelling, redness, warmth, or pain
Uncontrolled or unstable congestive heart failure or significant cardiac disease
Severe or uncontrolled kidney disease/failure
Active cancer or current cancer treatment when lymphatic massage has not been cleared by the treating medical team
Recent surgery without appropriate clearance or when surgical complications are suspected
Open wounds, active bleeding, or areas of significant skin breakdown
Any condition for which your physician or surgeon has advised against massage or manual lymphatic drainage
Some conditions are precautions rather than absolute contraindications, so having one does not automatically mean you cannot receive lymphatic massage. We may modify your treatment or request clearance from your healthcare provider before proceeding.
Whether you're recovering from an appropriate surgical procedure, managing occasional fluid retention, or simply looking for a restorative way to support your body and nervous system, our goal is to provide a safe, gentle, and deeply relaxing experience tailored to your individual needs.
